Starr Pass - Roadrunner/Coyote
3645 W. Starr Pass Blvd. Tucson, AZ 85745
Since its opening in 1986, Starr Pass has established itself as the premier desert golf course in the Tucson area. Once home to the PGA Tour Tucson Open, the Arnold Palmer designed golf course winds through valleys and arroyos and meanders among the bluffs of the Tucson Mountains. Strict attention was paid to disrupting the natural surroundings as little as possible, and the finished product is the Southwest's most inviting desert golf experience.
A round of golf here takes you through desert washes, over mountain passes, and into box canyons. The experience will be one to remember. "Starr Pass" is the local name of the niche in the Tucson Mountains that this dynamic course occupies. The desert-stadium designed course utilizes existing desert terrain to create natural hazards and showcases nature's handiwork. This results in contrasts of lush, manicured green grass set against dark porous rock and cactus. The tight fairways favor a straight shot. Each hole has four different tee boxes, allowing the player to select a longer or shorter course, depending on the level of experience or bravery. The names of the three nines are indictive of the wildlife you may experience at Starr Pass...the Roadrunner, the Coyote and the Rattler.
